We love finding the perfect place for a fairy door! Sometimes it is just as simple as placing it at the roots of a tree. Often I try not to remove any surrounding foliage, but instead nestle it within with what’s growing.
I try to lean most of my fairy doors against the trees, and only use fixtures if needed. I try to use straight pins if I do pin it in place. I caution people about using nails as once you put a nail into a tree you should not remove it. It really isn’t the nail that is an issue to the health of the tree but the larger opening left after it is taken out. Any opening into the trunk leaves the tree exposed to bacteria, fungus, bugs, and more. So if you do use a nail, just leave it in the tree.
